How To Put Your Keywords To Work
Written by Andre on October 23, 2010 – 10:03 AM -We all know what keywords are, how to find them and why they are important. But are you sure how to use them? Here are a few ways that you can apply keywords to your site in order to make them work for you and improve your ranking.
Optimize your content. Keywords will only be helpful to you if they appear organically within your site content. What can that imply? It implies they must be part of your copy without seeming forced or out of place.
For example: Take the keyword phrase “terrible twos”.
Organic “The terrible twos can be extremely difficult to manage.”
Inorganic “A difficult toddler who has the terrible twos might be in the terrible twos stage.”
Believe it or not, search engines (particularly Google) are smart enough to recognize content that is inorganically loaded with keywords. Interspersing keywords all through your website content can take time, some expert placement and superior writing skills. If you are not equipped to do this, consider hiring a professional copywriter who is well versed in SEO and able to write quality keyword-driven content for your site.
Meta Tags. Meta tags are the information that is included in the header of your website on each page. Viewers to your website can not see meta tags, but they can be viewed in HTML. They provide information to browsers as well as search engines which ultimately impacts your rankings. If your meta tags are named correctly, they will help with your SEO efforts.
Meta keyword tags should always: include keywords that you have specifically chosen to optimize; be separated by commas, not spaces; only appear once; and are frequently updated and continually managed.
While keywords can be put to use in many ways, content and meta tags are a great place to start. Conquering these two aspects of keyword SEO is an essential piece to the puzzle and will help to ensure your SEO campaign is a success.

Keyword Secrets Revealed
Written by Andre on April 12, 2010 – 5:49 PM -After you have made that big decision to start your own online business, you will want to understand how your prospects are using the internet. For instance, what are they actually using the internet to do.
Your company’s job would be so much easier if you knew that all of the people who might visit your site would have their credit card in hand and would be ready to purchase your products and services from you. But as you know this is usually not the case.
Instead we find that most people are using the internet to search for information. And usually they are searching because they have questions that they just can’t seem to find and answer for anywhere else.
Now you need to determine just how these individuals go about trying to obtain those answers. You can pretty much figure that they are using the search engines, namely Google, Bing (Microsoft’s new search engine) and Yahoo. You can be assured that most people have at some point heard of (and probably used) at least one of these three search engines, but there are probably hundreds of other search engines available. But, those other search engines combined probably generate far less than the big three (Google alone garners over 2/3 of the Internet search traffic), so let’s focus our attention on the big ones.
People typically use a search engine like Google by typing a word or phrase into the search box. That particular word or phrase will be the key to your business success, because that word or phrase will tell you exactly what the person is looking for.
We can use a typical example of an individual interested in say losing weight. If they were to type the phrase “weight loss’ into Google, they would see on the results page two things, paid and organic search results. You can Google “weight loss” for yourself.
Pay close attention to the yellow box at the top of the page, and they narrow column that runs down the right side of the page. These are what we call paid results – companies have paid Google to have their text (and links to their company websites) shown whenever someone searches for that term “weight loss”. And you will probably see that these companies seem to selling weight loss and diet products and services.
But, the majority of the page will be showing the so-called “organic” search results. You see the Google search engine has seen that these web pages seem to be more naturally (or “organically”) similar to the phrase “weight loss”. We would call the phrase “weight loss” a term known as a keyword. This is a good example of the importance of that keyword term by the fact that that phrase “weight loss” will be highlighted all through both the organic search results and the paid search results.
In order for your company to be able to take full advantage of this opportunity, You will want to do some research and be identifying the terms and phrases that your potential customers might be using when they go searching for the kinds of products and services that your company has to offer.
Now that you are aware of those keywords, you might want to launch a paid advertising campaign similar to the ones from the search results. That would certainly be an easy way to drive lots of relevant traffic to your site, right?
But, due to the popularity of the keyword by your prospective customers, you will find that there is a lot of competition for the keyword and you being a beginner as well as some more experienced advertisers, could find yourself spending a lot of money if you don’t know what you are doing and you will have very little to show for it.
You might want to wait as a new web business owner before you get involved with paid advertising until you are a bit more established and maybe spend more time with the organic search results you find for your website. Try improving your keyword research skills and by optimizing your website a bit more. It could make a big difference in the traffic you receive to your site.
