4 Stress Busters For The Home Office

We all suffer through a little stress, the “silent killer”, from time to time and it is amazing the problems it can cause us in our personal life. And it also known that we try to relieve it as much as we can by all means possible.

These are a few ideas that may be able to help you with that stress in your home office:

1 – Breathe. Deep breathing has been proven to slow down or even stop the onset of stress. Proper breathing can help get oxygen to all of your cells and can even slow your heart rate in a matter of minutes.

You can get started by taking a deep breath in through your nose (mouth closed) and allowing your stomach to expand as though it is a balloon filling with air. Then hold the breath for three seconds. This shouldn’t really be uncomfortable but simply give you a moment to pause. Then exhale through your mouth as you flatten your stomach. The next time you feel stress coming on, try doing five to ten of these deep breathing exercises.

2 – Exercise. Nothing can beat some exercise as a stress reliever. You can get rid of pent-up energy and anxiety, stress and maybe even mild depression. It will help your body stay flexible and in good condition.

When I say exercise it does not have to mean sweating in the gym. You could be doing something that you would enjoy; as long as you are doing it on a regular basis and it gets that heart rate going for a bit, it will work. Taking a brisk walk around the neighborhood everyday can work. Even dancing to some music for about 15 minutes. As long as you are doing some type of activity regularly.

Doing some exercise will help you beat that stress and can keep you positive and focused.

3 – Give yourself a break. Stress can take its toll at any given time. Whenever you feel like you might be getting stressed and anxious, give yourslef a short break. Get up and go outside and get some fresh air or go and have some tea and read for a bit. A few short breaks during your work day can help you stay calm and keep your energy level all through the day.

4 – Try giving up the caffeine. It is very easy to get into the habit of drinking coffe while you are sitting at your desk, but all of that caffeine can send your stress level through the roof.

Try slowing down on the caffeine consumption. You might try replacing a few cups of coffee with a nice herbal tea. But, even if you are not into herbal teas, try some black tea as it has less caffeine than coffee and you could find it a bit more satisfying.

It certainly isn’t easy to get rid of all of the stress and things outside of the office, life, are also not so easy and can be just as stressful. But, if you can take a little time to take care of yourself and recharge your batteries you can put yourself on the right path to stress-free living.
